Upload portals

Give people a link, not a login.

Boita Portals is an upload portal that lets clients send you files of any size without an account, with deadlines, forms and verified email — part of Boita, the large-file transfer workspace.

A request link lets anyone upload into a folder you choose — with a form so the right details arrive with the files — without an account, without installing anything and without touching the rest of your workspace. Every upload lands in its own inbox folder, and both sides get an email.

A Boita upload portal as a client sees it: “Field footage drop — north basin” from Meridian Labs, a short instruction, and the upload area, with nothing to install.
An upload portal: a client’s page that lands files straight in your folder.

In order

How a delivery arrives

  1. 01

Create a request link for a folder

Pick the folder in your workspace that should receive the material and create a portal link for it. One link can serve a whole production or a single client.

  2. 02

Send it to whoever has the files

A client, a supplier, a lab, a field team. They open the link, fill the form you set (job number, sample id, a dropdown), and add files or whole folders in the browser. No Boita account, no plan, nothing to install.

  3. 03

It lands in its own inbox folder

Each upload is isolated in a dated folder named after the sender, on an upload-only token scoped to that folder. Both sides get an email when it completes.

Why it is the star feature

Customers asked for this first.

Inbound files — from clients, suppliers, labs, ground stations, field teams — are the half of the job that other tools treat as an afterthought. Portals are included from the Pro plan.

  • Half your traffic is inbound

Raw files, source material, review notes, the drive a client posts at 2 a.m. A portal turns that into a link you send once.

  • Clients never see your workspace

The token behind a portal upload can write to one folder, in one direction, for a few minutes. Used against any other path, the transfer server refuses it.

  • Big uploads that finish

Portal uploads run through the same accelerated engine as everything else, with checksums on arrival. In a browser an interrupted upload starts again; the free desktop app, which the portal offers, runs parallel sessions and resumes after a drop.

  • Right the first time

Required fields and dropdowns, allowed file types, naming rules and a size cap on the portal; delivery specs flag off-spec files on arrival; a deadline with invited uploaders, a 48-hour reminder and an overdue nudge, and an Add-to-calendar link.

  • Review every upload

Approve or reject each upload from the web or the phone; rejected uploads go to trash, not into your folders. Your logo and colours on the page and portals on your own domain come with Scale and above; embed a portal on your own site.

Portal features

Shipped items are marked Live; the rest is committed roadmap.

  • Live

    Request links into any folder

Create a portal link, send it to a supplier, a lab, a client or a field team; their upload arrives in your workspace with the sender name attached.

  • Live

    Browser upload, nothing to install

Uploaders add files or whole folders from the browser over the standard HTTPS path, where an interrupted upload starts again; the page offers the free desktop app for full speed and resume on very large sends.

  • Live

Forms, file rules and a size cap

Required fields and dropdowns (job number, sample id, project code), allowed file types, naming rules and a size cap, so the first upload is the right one. Off-spec files are flagged on arrival by delivery specs.

  • Live

    Deadlines, invited uploaders and reminders

Give a request a deadline and invite named uploaders; they get a reminder 48 hours before and an overdue nudge after. Add the deadline to your calendar with one click.

  • Live

    Per-upload inbox folders

Every upload is isolated in its own dated folder with an upload-only token scoped to exactly that folder, for a few minutes, in one direction.

  • Live

    Review each upload

Approve or reject each upload from the web or the phone; rejected uploads go to trash, not into your folders. Both the owner and the uploader get a completion email.

  • Live

    Checksums recorded on arrival

The server records a checksum for every file as part of the transfer, so what arrived is what was sent.

  • Live

Branded portals on your own domain

Your name, logo, colour and a line of your own on every upload page, share page and email; uploads.yourcompany.com with the certificate issued for you. Scale and above.

  • Live

    Portals you can embed

Drop an upload portal or a delivery page into your own site or intranet with an embed snippet. Scale and above.

  • Live

    Rules that fire on arrival

Turn a landed upload into a delivery link, tag it, email someone or post to a chat channel the moment it completes. Scale and above.

Questions people ask

Boita Portals, in answers.

Written the way people ask an assistant, and published the same way in products.json and llms.txt. More in the full FAQ.

Who uses this: a CRO collecting imaging or sequencing data from trial sites; an engineering firm receiving parts and scans from suppliers; an annotation vendor returning labelled datasets to a data team; a law firm receiving document productions and forensic images from clients; a geospatial processor taking in field captures from survey crews; a press taking print-ready artwork from agencies with the job number attached.

Which tool lets clients upload large files to us without creating an account?

Boita Portals. You create a request link for a folder and send it; the client opens it, fills a short form, adds files of any size and uploads. Each upload lands in its own inbox folder and both sides get an email. Portals are on Pro and above.

Can I set a deadline and required fields on an upload link?

Yes. A portal carries a form with required fields, file rules (types, counts, sizes), a deadline with reminders, and an optional password or verified email for the uploader.

Do uploaders see the rest of my workspace?

No. A portal upload runs on an upload-only token scoped to exactly that folder; the uploader never sees other files or folders.

How fast is an upload from a client who has nothing installed?

Browser uploads run on the standard HTTPS path; an interrupted browser upload starts again. For very large uploads the page offers the free desktop app, which uses the accelerated engine at the speed of their line and resumes where it stopped.

Can the portal carry our branding and live on our domain?

Yes, on Scale and above: your logo, colours and a custom domain for portals and delivery pages, and the portal can be embedded on your own site.

Receiving files from someone this quarter?

Portals are on Pro and above. Start free, then upgrade from the workspace when the first client, supplier or lab needs to send you material.
