Honest assumptions: Boita is modelled at your full line rate with no per-GB throttling; the far end and your plan’s session allowance are the real ceilings. The typical upload gets 4 parallel TCP streams with loss-based congestion control (the Mathis model), capped at your line. Real services vary; distance and loss still hurt them, and never help.
How is the time per plan calculated?
Throughput is the smaller of the plan ceiling (45 Mbps per session times the plan’s sessions: 10 on Pro, 50 on Studio, 100 or more on Enterprise; 2 × 10 Mbps on Free) and your own upload line. Time is size divided by that, in decimal units. A 500 GB transfer on Pro over a 1 Gbps line is 4,000,000 megabits at 450 Mbps, about 2.5 hours; the same on Studio is line-limited at 1 Gbps, about 1.1 hours.
How much does it cost to send 1 TB?
On Boita, nothing per GB: the plan is a flat monthly amount (Pro ₹499, Studio ₹7,999 in India; USD, EUR, GBP, AED, SGD or AUD elsewhere) and covers as many transfers as your storage and fair use allow. The per-GB column is a category example from a published per-GB price list at US$0.25 per GB — one 1 TB delivery is about US$250 that way, before storage, and re-downloads often count too. No vendor is named; check the service you are comparing for current figures.
What is the "typical upload" in the speed calculator?
A textbook model of TCP with loss-based congestion control over the chosen route (the Mathis model), granted four parallel streams to be fair to multipart uploaders and capped at the line rate. Real services vary; the route presets state the round-trip time and loss they assume.
Can I go faster than the plan?
No. The plan sets the ceiling and your line sets the other. You can lower the rate during a transfer from the app (or send as Background) and you can raise the ceiling by changing plan; Enterprise adds a dedicated lane and more sessions.
